I am really mad at my sister right now. I had my 4yo nephew home today, babysitting since he got out of his pre-k at 1pm, till about 5pm, and everything was going wonderful.

Just before my sis came to pick him up, I let him play with tangram page a day calendar I have. When it was time to go, he wanted to take it. I said no. That should have been it. But, since the cutie was tired, he threw a tantrum. And my dear sister told him "don't ask me for it, ask aunt Joey". WTF?! I had already said no, she knew it, why did she have to throw him back at me? She knew I wasn't gonna let him take it. He can't have everything he wants. So I end having to say no, and carry him out crying and trying to get free and throw himself on the floor, and I'm the bad one.

For the rest of the tantrum, I left. I wasn't gonna get involved. And I was soooooo mad at her I would have exploded.

Why, oh why, didn't she just tell him no? That aunt Joey said no, but you can play with it the next time you come over. No... I have to say no, and try to discipline a child that isn't mine, and that I have no authority to, because she hasn't given it to me. She has him spoiled, he gets everything he wants, does anything he want, and she encourages him to fucking negociate with her. He's FOUR FUCKING YEARS OLD!!!! How can he know to do what's right? How the fuck can he negociate? HE CAN'T!

I'm really mad at her. She left me standing as the bad guy. I hate that.

I bet she'll regret her parenting when he grows older... Just stick to your guns. You might be the 'bad guy' now, but when he grows older, he'll appreciate that you put your foot down. At least that's how it is with me. :) I have several aunts and my favorite one is the one who never let me get out of line. She was strict, but fair, and I'll always love her for it.
