The world is a little less bright today.

Steve Irwin, aka The Crocodile Hunter, died today due to a stingray, while filming a documentary of the world's deadliest animals.

He died doing what he loved, but he left those who loved him behind. My heart goes to his family and friends.

There will never be another like him.

Crocs Rule!

I found out about this news last night (California time) when I got home. I know it was always a possibility because of his work, but for him to die in a way that is so rare. It's such a shame. He was an exuberant personality, helped with the environment, tourism and really cared about what he was doing. I loved seeing him on Conan O'Brien and other shows. Thanks for posting.

I was in shock last night when, before bed, I checked my friends list to make sure I didn't miss anything...and I saw several friends posting links to articles.

I wanted to believe it was a joke, after all, because I just can't imagine him dead. I remember watching his show all the time, and loving it so much.

My heart breaks everytime I think about his two kids who won't have him around growing up.

Crocs rule, yeah!!

It's truly a sad day. He was a wonderful man and the world feels a little bit emptier without him.

Australia's prime minister John Howard quoted Russell Crowe, who said about Steve Irwin: "Steve Irwin was the Australian many of us aspire to be." But I think he was the HUMAN many of us aspire to be.

The world is indeed a little less bright, because he lit up every space he went with his infectious enthusiasm. He will be sorely missed. :-(
